Bangladesh is an independent Country. As an independent country, it has a national flag which is more beautiful than any other flag. In Bengali, it is called “Lal Sobujer Potaka”. The flag consists of a red circle on top of a green field.  There is a history to achieve this Bangladeshi flag which reminds our liberation war in 1971. Symbol of the Flag: 

Bangladesh flag is made of two colors. These are Red and Green. It consists of the red circle in the center of the green field. The flag has significance. The red disc generally represents the sun rising over Bangladesh. It also emphasizes the blood of the people who sacrificed their lives for the Independence of Bangladesh. The green field represents the lushness of Bangladesh land. 

History and Origin of Bangladeshi flag: 

Bangladeshi flag was officially adopted on 17 January 1972. The primary version of Bangladeshi flag was made and designed by a group of student leaders and with the help of activists of Swadheen Bangla Nucleus. The flag was designed at room 108 of Iqbal Hall which is currently known as Sergeant Zahurul Haq hall, Dhaka University on 6 June 1970. Many students involved with the design. They are Kazi Aref Ahmed, Shahjahan Siraj, ASM Abdur Rab, Manirul Islam, Quamrul Alam Khan (Khasru), Swapan Kumar Choudhury, Hasanul Haq Inu, and few others. Bazlur Rahman Lasker made a donation of the clothes and the flag was finally made from it. Hasanul Haq Inu, Yousuf Salahuddin Ahmed and Enamul Haq traced A map of (Bangladesh) East Pakistan on a tracing paper in Titumir Hall, BUET. After that, Shib Narayan Das painted the map in the red circle on 2 March 1971. This early version of Bangladesh flag was then hoisted in Bangladesh for the first time at Dhaka University Campus, by A. S. M. Abdur Rab. 

Design of Bangladesh Flag: Bangladesh flag was designed by Quamrul Hassan. On the basis of the specification of the Government of Bangladesh, the following design is given below:

1. The flag will be rectangular in size in the proportion of 10:6 and the color will be bottle green with a red circle in the center of the green field.

2. The green field of the flag must be of Procyon Brilliant Green H-2RS 50 parts per 1000. The red circular part must be of Procyon Brilliant Orange H-2RS 60 parts per 1000.

3. The red disc must have a radius of one-fifth of the length of the flag. Its Centre part must be placed on the crossing point of the vertical drawn from the nine-twentieth part of the length of the flag, and the horizontal line drawn through the central width.

4. According to the size of the building, the flag sizes must be (10 ft × 6 ft), (5 ft × 3 ft). The size of the flag for cars is (12 1⁄2 inch × 7 1⁄2 inch) and the size of the table flag for mutual conferences is (10-inch × 6 inch). 

Display of the Flag:

Bangladeshi flag is flown on public and private buildings throughout Bangladesh. The flag is also flown on the following days such as International Mother Language Day on 21 February, Victory Day on 16 December, Independence Day on 26 March and any other day reported by the Government of Bangladesh.

World record: 

In the 42nd Victory Day of Bangladesh, 27,117 people gathered at the National Parade Ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Dhaka and created a "human flag" On 16 December 2013. It was recorded in Guinness World Records as the world’s largest human national flag. This is the pride of Bangladeshi People.
